new latte panda using tv as display from hdmi

I received keyboard mouse today plugged it into USB and connected hdmi cable coming from tv to latte panda, i already had a 2amp 5volt adapter so that came handy, i powered it up, the red light came up, but nothing shows up on TV, the same hdmi works with settopbox but doesnt detects latte panda connected to it.
please help..
