Ordered my basic panda last week to use in astronomy,, mount, focuser and cameras.
I installed, cartes du ciel planetarium, this gives you a star chart on the panda,, to this I installed Ascom platform, eqmod,, these allow control of your goto telescope via cartes du ciel.
I installed hitecastro dc focus,, allows Software to control the electric motor and moves the telescope to the correct focal point.
Camera software I used
Backyard eos for Canon dslr camera
Sharpcap pro for my zwo asi178 mc camera.
Tight vnc installed on a laptop and linx 10 " Windows tablet,, can control the telescope from either of these connected via smartphone hot-spot,
Compete testing ect at video astronomy forum,, proboards

Hi folks,, I've been asked for photos and video of my project by lattepanda,, but unfortunately photographs won't do the project any justice and would need to be a video,, but I'm up to my eyeballs in expanding the use of the latte panda in astronomy.
My project is more of a coming together of hardware and software than a finished article that most are showing on the forum.

My astronomy is done solely in the winter months as I don't do solar viewing, the weather is colder, skies are darker longer,, I am going to develop the use of the pada more for the grab and go type of astronomy,, having the panda on a portable goto telescope and all functions controlled via a remote desktop on my laptop in my warm car,, this will allow me to spend more time doing my hobby,, and not standing out in cold weather.
I am the owner of the video astronomy forum on proboards and a more detailed explanation of the project can be found here,, ... davy-panda

I'm currently waiting on a case arriving and a astronomy cable that will allow me to hardwire my skywatcher azgti to my panda.
The skywatcher azgti has its own built in hot spot and is controlled via WiFi and an app for a smart phone, tablet or computer,, the telescope has had it's firmware upgraded by skywatcher to change it from an alt /az telescope to an equatorial mount and with the use of a wedge it has made this a nice cheap portable set up,, the cable allows planetarium software to be used,, my idea is to use the panda to run it all from remote desktop in the field,, currently it uses my WiFi on my smart phone and to connect the panda to my phone hot spot it cuts off my WiFi,,
Quickest and easiest way around this is to hardwire azgti to the panda then remote desktop,, well that's the plan anyway,, vwill find out soon if I'm correct šŸ˜‚
