Can I to access the fan using pyFirmata?

Hi, I've just started using pyFirmata and wanted to know if it was possible to access the fan using pyFirmata, if not is there any other way to access it? I've recently installed Debian and I don't think the fan is running on it so I wanted to create a simple program to manage it for me.
