Activation key only should be a problem if the board is a doa, a bios corruption after Windows been activated shouldn't be a problem because after that activation can be done by Microsoft's servers on first time you connect the board on internet, at least i done this bios reflash and windows 10 is activated on my board.

that's correct. Once the system is registered at Microsoft, you don't need to do anything anymore.

strawberrymaker wrote: activation key isnt lattepandas problem, more a fault from microsoft. because microsoft decided to use the bios for storing the windows key. Lattepanda uses OEM keys (like all other pc and laptop manufacturers use) and they work only at that machine and the key they used doesnt work anymore after its activated. the key that you read out is just rubbish.
I'm not sure my "key" was ever activated since I was never able to go further than "just a moment please..." blue screen. My concern is where this key is exactly stored. If I want to re-flash their BIOS file, it seems this key will be scratched because the BIOS file is exactly 8 Megabytes long. So I guess I need to know where this key is so I can put at the same place in the BIOS file. Or did I miss something? I'm so angry...

thank you everyone for the valuable feedback. please keep it coming, some good suggestions that i will definitely pass on. bios recovery is certainly in the pipeline...
i have been forced to edit some posts in this thread slightly, please remember to keep your posts respectful and on topic.

It would be nice if the added HDMI-CEC support.

HI,
V2 in my opinion definitely needs:
- Backup BIOS System
- Heatsink option and of course a PWM controllable fan. I think it should be optional for people that will keep the board most at the time at low power or sleep / stand by it would be better to not have a heat sink, for keeping it smaller and lighter. But for those that want to have 100% processing power all the time, they could buy the heatsink option with fan.
- Simple BIOS option for autoboot on power on or wait on switch. Why do we need to flash the BIOS for such a simple option?!
- More stable power system. Either you leave the 5V but change the connector ( USB type C?) or you provide an onboard regulator that is cabable of handling at least 12V to 24V and provide a barrel jack for connecting standard power supplies.
- Leave the AVR processor onboard, but provide a more flexible connection: e.g. provide the option for sending the Atom to sleep and wake it up from the AVR CPU (this would be possible with USB I think?)
- Provide some more cool stuff for the AVR CPU, like a driver bridge for giving the AVR the possibility for using the Wifi or Bluetooth
- Reduce "power off" consumption, I read that people measured 70mA current consumption although the Atom CPU was off. I know the AVR does not consume that much current. That is way too much for making a portable system that runs on batteries.
- Double the standard onboard disk memory to 64 GB and make it faster (at least 150 MBytes/s) OR remove it completely and provide a m.2 port for a really fast SSDisk (everybody knows they are incredibly fast). With a M.2 slot people could choose the size and speed of the disk by themselves. Please do not try anything with SATA, it is outdated (my personal opinion)...
- Boot option from USB 3 would be nice to have for some guys
- WakeOnLan would be a very nice feature, especially for the ones that use the Panda as a media player with Kodi for example
- Nice to have would be a second USB 3 port

I know I probably represent a minority, but I would love to see a version with a built-in z-wave chip in addition to the arduino-chip.

How about two versions? One is cheaper (maybe priced like the current version) with a slower cpu and a pro version which costs more and has a beefier cpu

Hi all,

I thought i would add my two pence worth.

1. Power and Reset headers for buttons to be added to a custom case would be useful
2. Power and Hard Disk Activity headers So external for LEDs could be used.
3. Stereo Audio input.
4. Ability to change the Boot Logo (from Panda to Company Logo).
5. BIOS Recovery (as said many times)
6. Better cooling so the unit can run full power without throttling due to heat.
7. 12v power option?
8. More USB3/2 ports.
9. Sata or PCIe connector for Hard drive.
10. option for all versions to come with or without Windows pre-installed.
11. At least 1 (or even better 2) RS232/422/485 ports.
12. Better (more robust) connectors for LCD and touch functionality, also capacitive touch would be good.
13. Different screen size options.
14. screens to come with mounting point.

thats all for now

:D

I use it as a home desktop/server which is powered all the time.
Primarily for ebook server and web browsing/watching videos.

I have an alternative gaming setup that is too power hungry for 24/7 use.

Hence my wish list.

1) CPU - m3 or X7 processor.
2) Heatsink design for better cooling and performance without throttling.
3) Ram 8G atleast. Current board is only using single channel of ram. You should have used both channels. That will give a lot more memory bandwidth which translates into better performance.
4) Storage. Onboard storage is not fast enough. To work around the current situation, I've plugged in a SSD to the usb3 port and move all the browser caching onto the SSD and some applications as well. If we can use msata or something like that, it would boost the performance significantly.
