[TUTORIAL] LattePanda Bios Reflash Save LP from red light

as the activation code will have been lost through flashing, i dont believe so. Unless you have backed up the chip before a flash. but then you will have to find and extract it from the hex file, reinsert it in to an image, and then flash.

Kudos for the post I was waiting for a long time!

Unhopefully I already ordered the programmer (EZP2013 USB2.0) because I was under impression a lot of cheaper programmer may not have the proper software or support. So far I ordered the same stuff (including the test clip) and your pictures confirm what the IC to flash is. I guess I have no option else removing the shield to access the IC. By the way, after flashing it with success, what did you do about the shield and the thermal pad? Did you replace it? I'm curious about.

Now I'm worried about something: activation key. So far I had "Just for a moment..." when dealing with Windows 10. I guess this code is activated only when you enter WIndows 10 successfully and asks for it, isn't it?

I seriously don't like the RMA option because it will take money and time to get it back working (or not) as it should have been from the start. That activation key - to have it put with those important items like BIOS firmware and BIOS parameter in the same basket (IC) is totally amateurish and dangerous in design term. Now I don't wonder why it is easy to brick it.

The chance I can retrieve my activation key may appear slim but as long as I can try to read the IC, I want to try to rescue it. So, LP team, could you provide as soon as possible the details where to find it in the IC so I can extract it?

which file did you flash after renaming it?

Didn't replace it , just add some thermal compound between CPU and thermal pad. And I also stick a small fan on the shield which I removed on my old PC.

The flash job will cover all the code in Bios chip including the KEY part .Because the bios file is for generally use ,I think the KEY part in this file must be all FF. So, if you flash it , you will loss your KEY like forever .Unless you backup it from your bios chip ( the program software can read the chip info. ) or in the system.

The file in the red circle called "DF-BI-7-S70CR110-C45B-001-B"(for the 4G)
"DF-BI-7-S70CR110-C34A-001-B" for the 2G version

That is what I feared. My BIOS probably being corrupted, I will need to cross my fingers to be able to retrieve the KEY supposedly the corruption didn't touch it. Thanks for your instructive answers.

Hello, I do not mean to be offensive, but these two pictures are wrong.
In the upper picture, you have pins 1-4 lined up with the dot, pins 5-8 on the opposite side. On the lower picture, pins 1-4 are lined up with the dot (so if you think about it, the picture on top would have to be flipped both horizontally and vertically). On the lower picture, you have pin 8 directly across from pin 1. It should be pin 5 (I believe)

which picture should we trust? I'm thinking about following your instructions and attempting to re-flash my bios. Just thought I'd point this out:)
