Ubuntu Server 16.04 64-Bit works fine with my panda (4GB version). But it seems like the Ethernet port is not probably supported, It does not recognize the Port in the install process. I tried to add the port into /etc/network/interfaces but after a couple minutes of working it`s gone again. :(
Everything else works, exept that the Panda does not shut down completly.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem there?
Hey guys,
I recommend to you that you install ArchLinux.
Because, I already installed it to be a server, I did boot just fine from USB and install all things even network worked nicely out of the box.
The Only Problem I face the boot from installed OS on eMMC.
I don't know how can I make it boot, it does need a 100MB vFat partition or what?

Thanks

hi

@acasta

I tried the tool you mentioned, no dice. :(

I downloaded the a number of ISOs and re-downloaded the ones i had already tried (all of them 64 bit versions, unbuntu server and desktop, lububtu and rancheros), to ensure i did not have a currupt version.

could it be my usb Sticks (I tried a 3rd panda, this seems a bit suspect), and also tried another USB power Supply.

I also made the image on another computer to rule our my main laptop (trying anything which could be the common denominator)

Any further thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

(@lattepanda team, is there anything we should be made aware of around setting up boot-able usb images)

Maybe you could try re-downloading the linux image? i once had an image, that wouldn't boot, no matter which usb-stick and which creation tool i used. answer was, that the image got corrupted during download. usually linux images are provided together with a MD5-sum, so you can check the integrity of the image file.

an other thing - did you use the 32-bit image? you could also use multi-arch images (e.g. debian provides those).

also, some 32-bit linux images don't support UEFI-boot. ...keep an eye on this possible issue...

good luck!

Multi-arch worked fine, thanks, i installed Ubuntu 32 bits on a 32/2 Lattepanda using boot and ufi folders from Debian multi-arch install disk.

@bruno, good to hear the 32bit ver worked, however I require the 64bit versions.

@all/anyone I have the LP with 2gb Ram and 32Gb memory. The CPU is 64 bit, is there something else which makes this not able to run 64 bit OS's?

@dbones:
why do you need 64bit-versions? i have to admitt, that i didn't yet have a look at the actual cpu specs, but the fact, that the 2GB/32GB-LP comes with windows 32bit, seems to be hinting, that 32bit-linux is the way to go.

@bruno:
glad to hear it works! did you run into any further problems (e.g. wifi/ethernet not recognized, freeze on shutdown, etc.)?

Ethernet works, but wifi didn't, my board was freezing, i fix that with attaching a heat sink with fan and installing Intel gma graphics driver, shutdown doesn't work on Ubuntu, on Debian, at least from shell prompt, shutdown worked fine.

Wow, thanks for this hint! Will be useful when using the LP as server.

Hey, daca11,
it seems, we have a solution for the shutdown problem: use debian.

Well, as this Lattepanda is using an UEFI booting method, you need to find the right version of Linux for your device.

For a 2G/32G LP, it has a x86 version of UEFI and support by Debian (the only version I know for now). you can download from this site:
https://www.debian.org/distrib/
and find 32-bit PC version.

For a 4G/64G LP, since it's using a 64bit UEFI Firmware, any Linux x64 version should do it. Make sure you are downloading the x64(AMD64) version for it.

And don't even try to use a 64-bit UEFI to boot a 32-bit system, or likely, boot a 64-bit system using a 32-bit UEFI.

Does the LP not support "Legacy Bios" mode? I've got a 2/32 and I can't see anywhere to change UEFI settings so I can install a custom Linux OS under BIOS mode? Does the LP UEFI have a CSM?.....
