Make sure it was an X86_64 kernel as well - that arm stuff isn't for this platform i.e. retropie = arm etc

Sounds like hdmi isn't being recognized - are you using debian with no graphical desktop selected as the boot medium? Try the one with xfce and see if that does the trick

If x86 android runs on this board you should be able to use touchscreen - but there are boards by other manufacturers that use arm natively and might be a better fit for ease of use in that project. raidensnake - try vanilla Debian or Ubuntu Beta install via usb and you can add emulationstation to it with ease. Getting wifi up is usually a matter of updating the driver while connected to either lan or smartphone - see Ubuntu docs for details. https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-h ... check.html
