I have one of the nice "Aluminum Alloy Case for LattePanda" cases.

The unit has been powered up for a couple of weeks and now the fan is noisy. Sounds like the bearings are going out.

Has anyone else had this problem?
I need the fan to last a very long time.

Hasn't happened here. Had mine for about 3-4 months now.

Try opening it and cleaning out the fan perhaps ? Might simply be excessive dust.

I have had my Alpha for sometime and am now having the same fan noise issue and possibly experiencing unexpected shutdown. As I bought this board to run my security camera system, which it does a great job of, when it doesn't crash. I am about to test the RMS process with LattePanda.
Anyone have a solution to this problem? Since the fan is integral to the board it doesn't look like a replacement would be possible.

    Hello everyone,

I have my Panda for around 4 months. And I suppose it was turned on 24/7 for around 1 month from that period. Fan became extremely noisy and I'm very unhappy with sounds I hear from it.
I was patient and tried not to notice that sound in all possible ways but last few days it became more louder and finally today my Panda became very slow. Lags\short freezes, long delay switching video to the full screen and etc. And I found my Panda very hot. I was unable to keep my hand on the backpannel for longer then 1-2 seconds. I suppose it was around 70-75 celsius and now I'm pretty sure that this vibration don't give fan to rotate on a full speed.
Forgot to mention that I opened case of the Fan and cleaned it from dust (there was not so much) and unfortunately it changed nothing.
Any ideas how can I get replacing Fan? Where should I address my videos illustrating the problem?
unfortunately I can't attach it here because forum only allows to attach less then 10Mb files.

I got replacement FAN. Was able to replace it without any problems. And it works just fine.
Came to conclusion that titan case significantly increase core temperature because of no air flow passing through the back side of the board. In its turn it is causing fan to rotate full speed for longer periods and fail quite fast. Using other bigger or additional fan making main advantage (small size) of this board just disappear.

my fan is rattling. Thinking of trying to open it up, clean and lubricate with 3-in-1 oil.
Any reason not to do so?

In case that doesn't fix the noise, is a replacement fan (with longer life) available?
Better yet, as I'm in a tropical climate, is there an enhanced cooling option, ideally fanless?

Update: Very easy to uncover the LattePanda Alpha fan, gently lift-off the fan-blades, clean everything (with vacuum, electronics cleaner, soft brush), oil axel chamber with one drop of 3-in-1 oil.
    Close...
    Silent again.
