I am also planning similar idea of using my 4K laptop monitor from HP Omen 17-w151nr (MB is burned and replacement would still cost ≈$1000) but I need adapter splitting 40 pin (39 really, because third is empty spot - see photo

Thomas, did you use any particular eDP cable? Shouldn't every eDP LCD work, isn't that the point of having the eDP port on the board?
I am asking these questions because I really want to build my LPA in a tablet format (without touch screen), and using a laptop LCD (eDP) would be the perfect solution. Dont want to spend $50 on something that wont work. .
So, is there such a thing as a generic eDP cable? and shouldn't all eDP displays just work?

Beware that there exist two orientations (A and B). You might have to do a twist with the cable if it's not the suited orientation.
It is described in the lattepanda manual (last page I think).
If you want to know the pinout of the screen, you can check panelook.com (to get datasheets, you need and an account and to either pay with money or with some coins you earn by posting photos/feedback/info on material).
The alternative is to use a control that is compatible with your screen then you use hdmi to connect with the panda. The drawbacks are 1) you have a new PCB to pack in you setup 2) you have one extra cable to manage (HDMI) in addition to eDP 3) the control card need its own power input!
I was going with this solution at the beginning and I'm happy I didn't need it in the end.

I have the pinout and orientation of the LattePanda board connector, but I can't make out from the pictures on the web what the orientation of the connector on the panel is. And I can't find a pinout diagram for the referenced panel.
If I get the panel, I guess I can see the GND, GND, TX1_DN , TX1_DP, GND configuration of 1st 5 pins (should be easy to find GND, GND, X,X, GND sequence with multimeter) and determine sequence that way.
It would be nice if someone who already owned the panel could confirm the orientation of the cable (contacts same side or reverse side).
