Hi there,

for the experts, this might seem like a silly question:

Is it possible to use the LP Alpha's USB-C port to do the following things SIMULTANEOUSLY:
?

Obviously enough, some sort of hub would be necessary. Has anyone found something to do that trick?

Thanks in advance,
LXP

From LP Alpha's perspective

1 Power the LP Alpha, preferably but not necessarily via the included power supply
< -- this needs LPA in PD power sink mode (means receiving power from its USB-C, in this case 15V 3A in)

2 Power an external touch display via its USB-C port; https://magedok-shop.myshopify.com/coll ... nitort116c
< -- this needs LPA in PD power source mode (means sending power from its USB-C, probably 5V 1.5A out)

*** A USB-C port cannot be in PD sink and source mode at the same time

3 Transfer video/audio/touch data between the LP Alpha and the display
< --- HDMI mode would deliver video and sound on that HDMI signal, but not touch (very often thru classic USB data transfer mode)

A commercial dongle can do (1) and (3) simultaneously, but not Touch (that's USB.)
A USB-C docking station may allow (1) and (3) simultaneously and including several USB 2.0 ports (to support some flavors of "Touch panels".)
Some of the above (USB-C docking) may internally extract USB-C power (in this case, 15V 3A) and down-convert (buck) to 5V to feed power to other devices. But it may not supply enough current (say 5V 1A) thru its USB2 ports to power-hungry devices.

Thanks for that info.

Any specific devices that are known to work?

Thanks again for your insight, helps a lot.

You might want to consider this dock
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWT66DG

I have not looked into it in depth. On surface, it appears to be the good fit. Make sure you get a good return policy.

Pls do not hold me on this suggestion working or not
