5V GPIO max current

Hello everyone,

I need to recharge a 5V battery from the lattepanda Alpha with 1A or maybe 2A
Does someone know how much current can I draw from the 5V lines on GPIO ports ?
I see two lines :
- The one with USB pins near 12V DC
- The one near 3.3V pins
They are connected when I use multimeter, but is the 5V-USB protected with a 500mA fuse ?

Thank you

I don't know the answer, the factory engineers might. On the other hand,
I would suggest getting the 5V directly through power cable (on the power feeder end, exterior to the Alpha) through a buck converter module.

Reason: the LP Alpha/Delta has a lot of tiny SMD parts (very delicate) and the board is expensive.
Don't know about you, I wouldn't trade a $300 board's health with a $5 external buck converter module for a peace of mind.
