Hi,

I have a project that I'm working on that requires the latte panda and the 7" Screen and touch screen, However the ribbon cables attached to both devices are significantly to short for my needs. Is there a way I can extend them? I was thinking there might be a FPC to HDMI adapted I could get which would cover the screen but not the touch panel.

I guess my question is, Is there a cheap-ish way to extend the lengths of these 2 FPC type cables?

Thanks for your time :)

They posted some links about where to get the extension cable and converter board for FPC connector and cables.
And there's also the spec of the FPC, which is helpful for you to get the right components from your local electronics suppliers! ;)

Let me know if it's helpful!

If you are going to be that far away from the Panda I would recommend going with a USB and HDMI mini monitor. The connections on that 7 inch screen are crap anyway and I currently have a paper clip holding my connection on because the flap broke off after 3 uses.

Hi, like the pictures below.
tips: FPC cable pitch 0.5mm 30pins for screen, 6pins for touch panel.

Hope it is helpful.

Those look like good connectors. Too bad the panda does not have those.

You can buy it on your local shop or the online sales platform. :)

Maybe I can but who will rip the ones off the Panda and put these on for me in their place.
I have two boards each have a broken connectors after gentle use. Disconnecting and reconnecting the screen.
Its the only thing I can complain about. The over heat is fixed with a fan and the Aurdino connector is OK as long as you are gentle with them. Love the small foot print etc. Just wish this didn't break so easily.

If you are unable to do this yourself, your local shop which specialize in repairing mobile phones will be able to repair or change your broken connector. Easy to do under magnification and using a 'hook' type tip.

Beware; the ribbon needs to be inserted correctly for the polymer(not metal btw) locking mechanism to engage & disengage properly. If the ribbon is not seated fully, you will break it - unfortunately.

Tips for durability; avoid leaving your LP under UV e.g. in the sun on your windows side or directly under LED/neon lighting. Also, make sure the connector is at room temperature (+/-20dC) when locking/unlocking it.

Hope this helps
