example of getting U1 connector com port working?

It looks like this port was allocated for GPS usage (by the pin names) but I'd like to run it directly to an external board from a VC# program, if possible, and not have to go through the Arduino.
Is there a block diagram or schematic of the LattePanda that might show how the board connections are made?
