Hello,
I am following your tutorial and it is very good explained.
When i want to erase the chip a get this message

Possible protection is enabled. Press "Unprotect" and check datasheet
Erasing memory...

Do you know what is the cause.

could you please take a pic of this message? we don't have this problem always.
did you connect power when reflashing? Please disconnect it if you do.

I have the same issue. I tried with both ASProgrammer and the CH341A program. I have tried reading the contents of the bios multiple times, and I get different results, so my guess something is getting corrupted somewhere (or maybe a bad chip?).
On AsProgrammer, I get the following error:
