Projects LattePanda

Considering the past successes and landmark projects which showcase the LattePanda and its levels of connectivity and versatility of functions that it has achieved in its path to become the leader of single board computers in IoT and AI technology, this series of SBC’s has continued to experience leaps and bounds in its aptitude within these fields through the use of cutting-edge technology and compatible applications. It has only gained connectivity functions since its infancy via the use of Lime-SDR Mini technology, which allows the SBC to transmit and receive data through a variety of different types of wireless communication standards, including, but not limited to, UMTS, LTE, GSM, LoRa, Bluetooth, Zigbee, RFID, and Digital Broadcasting. On the other hand, the LattePanda SBC’s have become the expeirmental subject of a new line of Intel processing equipment and software, called Intel Movidius and OpenVINO, respectively, and has shone through as one of the devices with greatest potential for businesses’ use to incorporate AI technology seamlessly into their companies.

Let’s dive into these two additional technologies to learn more about them and how they can assist your LattePanda IoT or AI project!

*Note: This article focuses on the LattePanda Delta when regarding the inclusion and use of Movidius and OpenVINO technology, as it has shown more than enough power to run such heavy-duty object recognition software, and is understood to have a price point falling within most makers’ budget.

LimeSDR-Mini

Whether you would like to convert your LattePanda SBC to a ham radio or add LTE connectivity(Chinese) to your LattePanda project, all of this is achievable with the small LimeSDR-Mini. This USB dongle can help you control these different types of waves transmitted to and received by your LattePanda, enabling makers to expand beyond high-end Bluetooth and WIFI connectivity. In fact, many of the projects which have been created in order to test and showcase the different LattePanda boards’ performance when utilizing this technology have been primarily of the two aforementioned examples–ham radios and portable LTE service antennas. This means that any avid amateur radio fans can now build their radios using the LattePanda SBC, suitable touch screen, and LimeSDR-Mini with ease, and anyone who wishes that their project could double as an LTE antenna providing smartphones and personal devices with LTE service can consider using this technology to improve upon their already exceptional project.

Movidius and OpenVINO

The Movidius is the Intel Neural Computing Stick 2, and by stick, we do mean that it is as small as a USB stick! It is a small computer that connects to other computers via the USB port, and, since it was developed by Intel, it is compatible with Windows devices, and even some Apple and Linux devices. It is considered a perfect addition to a small-yet-powerful SBC, so that your vision processing unit is small, compact, portable, lightweight, and extremely powerful. In order to operate it, it is advised to be used in conjunction with some operating software, like Intel’s very own OpenVINO software. In order to get started, you can refer to one of our very own community users who made a wonderful guide on how to install and use such software on the LattePanda Delta.

**Please stay tuned for even more applications and guides which utilize the full magnitude of what the Movidius and OpenVINO hardware and software are capable of achieving on the LattePanda.
