LP freezes after LCD display turned off

I got a small problem with my LCD display. Whenever it turns off (forced by command or power settings) the whole LP freezes. I am able to turn the screen on with my keyboard again but everything is frozen and I have to shut it down before I am able to work with the LP again. Is there a solution except disconnecting the screen or disabling the display off function?
