Lattepanda and Wifi problems.

I'm trying to set up a number of lattepandas (64gb 4gig ram standard model) . On all of them the wifi is pretty bad and I'm wondering how to fix this. On most of the images, for example on amazon, a Lattepanda seems to come with a wifi antenna seperately. None of the ones i have ordered came with this.

Does one need to add an additional wifi antenna to get somewhere near normal performance? Is this possibly a driver issue? (i have tried to update driver but it seems up to date).
