Question about programming arduino

Hi, I am interested in getting involved with using arduino. Ideally, I wouldn't need to use the built in coding language. I am learning python and want to know if it is possible to use python with the Arduino Uno. If so, how do I do it. If not, are there any arduino like boards that do run python? Thank you in advance.
