I ordered a monoprice usb-c passthrough and displayport adapter https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id= ... 1&format=2 but it doesn't power the Alpha using the included power supply. The red light never turns on with the power supply plugged into the passthrough but will turn on when plugged directly into the Alpha. Has anyone had luck using the included power supply and a USB-C pass through adapter with the Alpha 864? If so, can someone link to the one they purchased?

USB type-C situation is just like the (good old days of) early days of USB version 1.0.
Lots of incompatibilities and standards subject to (various) interpretations problems.
IMHO, any single function that can work and work reliably is a blessing already.

Also, try power LP Alpha thru that 4-pin DC power IN. IMO, it is the best and most reliable option.

Yep, let me tell you USB type-C is full of "growing pains".
Sometimes it's even like chasing ghost. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.
Nothing is so repeatable other than saying that "by doing something else (such as inserting a USB type-C meter in between a previously working function, certain functions will break).
If I kept on pulling hairs, I will be bold in no time.

Morale of the story, "doesn't work" is the norm, working is blessing.
(Don't believe me, change another cable or swap cable side, you'll know...)

Thanks for the replies. Right after I posted, I ordered a few off Amazon to test as I suspected something was incompatible with the MP adapter & Alpha. For the Amazon & displayport folks out there https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FF63XZ9/ works perfectly.

thanks, was looking for this. Questions though. I’d prefer to get a hub so I can have extra USB ports. Is there a model with hub that works? Also, will a USB C with HDMI work for 4k, or does it have to be USB C with Display port out? I would have to get a Display port to HDMI cable.

Per Wikichip
m3-7Y30's IGP can do

Max Resolution
HDMI 4096x2304 @24 Hz (1.4a)
DP 4096x2304 @60 Hz (1.2)
eDP 4096x2304 @60 Hz (1.4)

Not sure if HDMI 1.4a is directly routable to USB-C graphics out (one of the USB-C alt mode)
I thought LP Alpha route DP to USB-C (as another USB-C Alt mode.)

I did try LP Alpha USB-C out (thru a USB-C to HDMI cable) to a 1920x1080 HDMI monitor. Power thru 12V DC IN. That works fine.
(Will update when I have a chance to test a 3840x2160 HDMI monitor.)

re: integrated USB hub in that combo unit

Not sure, it's a YMMV situation and varies by mfg/model.
Also just 3.0 hub or USB-C hub ( < --- USB-C can be far more complex than one can imagine, so don't go there...)

Tested on a 3840x2160 HDMI monitor and it works.
Sorry forgot to check the refresh rate.
Here is the cable
https://www.amazon.com/CHOETECH-Compati ... B01LYS3Q5A

OK, re-read the spec, it is using USB-C DP Alt-mode (so LP Alpha is treating it as a DP monitor), while
(the fat cable dongle) internally has a DP to HDMI convert IC to output HDMI to my monitor..

Also note this cable does not support USB-C power insertion, just a display cable.

P.S. the cable claims it can do 4K at 60 Hz.

I got a victsing usb-c 8-1 hub , but it only recognizes data drives . A keyboard-mouse wireless usb and my gaming joysticks would not work. Hdmi out worked fine with 4K output . I’m not familiar with usb C hubs, but is this normal?

re: victsing usb-c 8-1 hub
model number and product link please.

re: USB 1.1 (cordless) keyboard and mouse not supported
Please check your BIOS setting, is the USB legacy mode support disabled?
