So, I am planning on buying the alpha for a project and was wondering if the EDP 30pin output can be used with an eGPU or just the integrated graphics

Short answer: NO.

Long answer:

Brief explanation on what's at play here:
eDP (embedded DP, embedded Display Port) is a specialized display interface standard, describing the method to send a type of display signal (in the same family as VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP, etc.) to an eDP display unit.
It is a technical term

eGPU (external GPU, external Graphics card), on the other hand, is just a marketing term. It roughly describes a movement to expand the current computer's limited graphics card (or integrated graphics) by using an external Graphics card. The key technology used is expanding by using the PCI Express (PCIe) bus.
As a matter of fact, one can plug other type of PC adapter boards onto the PCIe bus to "expand" (add) additional functionalities the PC does not come with originally.

So naturally, eDP interface is not a PCIe bus thus we are talking about fantasy land here.
