Hi

1. the board should be able to run at 100% without throttling because of temperature. Heathsink, fans, whatever is needed.
2. ability to reset the BIOS if something goes wrong - possibly the ability of re-flashing the BIOS if the upgrade goes wrong. Or maybe a backup BIOS system on board
3. Gigabit Ethernet
4. No 5V USB power! It's hard to find good 5V PSU with USB plug and also it won't help when powering fans and other things. I'd like to see a 12V socket so a good 12V PSU could be used for the LP and for anything else if required.

Auto Bios recovery and a good heat sink solution must be priorities on a new LP revision

Was too lazy to read the other suggestions, but gonna dump mine anyway:
  • Major:
    • Move the CPU to the top and use a PROPER heatsink, please..
    • add screw holes to the LCD, better: a spot for the panda on it (like on the official RasPi Display)
    • remove that stupid microUSB power port and use a barrel jack (like on the orange pi)
    • Higher Resolution LCD. Many programs (like the Github Desktop Program) simply dont fit.
    • Add a SATA or mPCI Port to allow bigger storage where the user can actually install programs on. like 20GB of free space is not going good when you start installing visual studio
    • 5Ghz WiFi, just to point out your failure last time/this time..
  • Minor:
    • Maybe Android Support?
    • Maybe even a bigger screen? (9 inches or so, but i think then you have to pay for the windows license)
    • A newer SoC (but seems obvious)
    • Maybe completely drop the Arduino part, as it isnt really integrated that well ATM.
    • Better WiFi Antenna
    • Maybe a Buck Converter On-Board for LiPos?

BIOS bricked is 1 of the Lattepanda major cause the backer request RMA now in this forum.

As a development board many user will have to touch the BIOS whether they prefer or not. Without a safety measure liked auto BIOS recovery Lattepanda should called a mini PC motherboard not a development board where users are not recommended to touch the bios.

I totally agree with maideii. That's the major failure of Lattepanda and it doesn't even deserve to be called development board. That's just enough for me to tell the others not to consider it as a viable solution.

Now you know what that LP V1 *SHOULD HAVE* had from the start and what that future V2 *MUST* have:

- robust auto-recovery BIOS (separate dual BIOS firmware and parameters - dual so we could still reboot on the last valid BIOS)
- keep a copy of Windows 10 activation key somewhere so we could retrieve it
- a better way to deal with heat.

1. Raise the cpu higher so you can mount a heatsink on the cpu die or trimm the contacts and other components so they dont sit higher than the cpu ( preventing a direct contact heatsink from being installed( an issue on current version).
2. Holes drilled in the pcb arround cpu for heatsink instalation ( chose a widely used standard for holes!! in case people want to use aftermarket or build themselves) and a pwm header for a 5/12v fan controlable from the bios
3. An core m3 version or at least an X7 atom / pentium for better performance.
4. AC dualband WIFI with plenty of drivers available for it.
5. 12V/24v barrel connector for better power delivery and sturdyer connector ;or the new USB type C connector . Microusb is so fragile.
6. Display and touch connector must be a widely used standard that can support higher resolutions. The 7 inch low resolution display that is available is terrible and the connector prevents people from buying theyre own display.
7. Sata connector and/or M.2 connector.Seriously how was this ommited?
8. At least 2 USB 3.0 ports and 2 usb 2.0 ports
9. 2 Gigabit ethernet ports !
10. Replaceable EMMC Storage ( hardkernel has been doing it for ages )
11. Power /reset headers for ataching external on/reset buttons
12. Li-PO battery connector with built charger
13. The arduino part showed promise but its still better if it was an optional add in accesory to the panda rather than built in. Maybe build it as a shield .
14. Reset bios switch or make it a removable chip in case it gets corrupted.( that would solve lots of problems people are having with v1)
15. Ship the product in antistatic bags.... duuuuuh...

Allot of options mentioned above could be build modular and just stack them or something. That way there is something for everyone. You could satisfy more people with the same base product but give them lots of accesories to chose from.

+1 on auto-recovery. but i doubt dual bios is possible in this form factor, because it requires two bios chips, makes sense i guess.

activation key isnt lattepandas problem, more a fault from microsoft. because microsoft decided to use the bios for storing the windows key. Lattepanda uses OEM keys (like all other pc and laptop manufacturers use) and they work only at that machine and the key they used doesnt work anymore after its activated. the key that you read out is just rubbish.

and +1 to heat.
