Easy Backup/Restore/Clone an LP
birdie5 2018-04-03 02:47:19 3399 Views1 Replies I finally got around to testing Windows Backup/Restore for backing up a LP.
This method was fast and easy.
Backup:
1) Run "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)", this is found in Control Panel.
2) Select "Create a System Image". Choose a USB hard drive (not a flash drive) as the destination.
Restore:
1) Boot from a "System Repair Disc". I did this from a small boot-able USB flash drive (search online for instructions).
2) To boot from a USB stick you have to first enter Bios and set the Boot Option (order) #1 to the USB drive.
3) When the recovery disk boots, select Troubleshoot, Advanced options, System Image Recovery, Windows 10. It will search and find your backup System Image and restore from it.
Note: This process requires you to have the same drives plugged into the same ports when doing the Backup/Restore. All hardware must be identical.
If you are using this to clone an image to a new LP, you will have to change the Windows Key when done.
For LTSB Enterprise you can do this in: Settings, System, About, Change Product Key.
